Finding A Real Estate Agent in Chico

Finding an experienced, reliable real estate agent whom you like and trust is the first step in locating your new home and/or selling your current home. Here is an approach to finding the right agent.

Do some homework online.  Search for realtors in your area.  Just go into a search engine like Google and type in something like, "Chico(your city) realtors". You could also search for local realtors that you've heard good things about.  For example, "Ryan Vaught Real Estate" to find more information about that realtor.   Take some time searching the net and finding some valuable information.

From you online findings, call some of the realtors offices that sound good to you. Describe the type of home you are looking for.  Ask them any questions you may have of them.  If they still sound like someone you would like to do business with ask if you can meet with them in person and ask them some more questions (this is like an interview where you can sit down with several "candidates" and see which one you like best).  It is really a matter of chemistry! If you meet a realtor who is knowledgeable and with whom you feel comfortable, then give them a try!

Once you establish a strong working relationship with a real estate agent, your agent can show you a number of homes for sale, even if they are listed with other companies. Often the agent can show you a property as soon as it is placed on the market.

Bottom line is, make sure you find a realtor that you are comfortable working with and confident in their abilities.  Make sure if you "interview" them, be it on the phone or in person, to ask the hard questions.

Here is a list of some possible questions you may consider asking a realtor you are considering:

  • How long have you been a realtor?
  • What experience do you have that sets you apart from other realtors?
  • How many homes have you sold/helped clients buy this year?
  • How long, on average, does it take for your listings to sell?
  • How will you effectively market my home?
  • What is your fee/commission?
  • Do you have any past clients I can contact as a reference?

If you are interested in a local Chico realtor that is hardworking and experienced, please contact me.  I would be happy to meet with you and answer any questions you have.  I would love to do business with you!
